The Florida Organization of Nurse Executives exists for nurse leaders who provide vision for the advancement of professional nursing practice and patient care. FONE promotes excellence in leadership to shape the future of health care delivery, education and health policy in Florida.  Why be a member of FONE? Dear Colleague:

As the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives moves into the future, it is time to solicit nominations for the 2009 election.  It is imperative that we identify leaders who are willing and interested in guiding our organization to enhance its role as the voice of nursing leadership in the state of Florida and on a national basis to ensure our input and commitment to health care in the years ahead. 

The following officers will be elected for the 2009-20011 term. 

• President-Elect
  Chairs the Strategic Planning Committee.  Serves as President-Elect for the 2009-2010 term.  Serves as President of the organization for the 2010-2011 term. Serves as Past-President for the 2011-2012 term.
• Director-Region I
  Represents the counties of Palm Beach, Hendry, Broward, Dade, Glades and Monroe Counties.
• Director-Region III
  Represents the counties of Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Brevard, Osceola, Indian River, St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Martin Counties.
• Director-Region V
  Represents the counties of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison and Taylor Counties.

The FONE Board of Directors and members of the FONE Research Committee are pleased to announce the availability of a FONE Research Grant. The purpose of the grant is to support novice or beginning investigators in conducting nursing administration and leadership research.

One grant, in the amount of $1000, will be awarded annually at the Spring FONE meeting. As a condition of receiving the award, recipients will agree to present the findings of their study at a subsequent FONE meeting and provide progress reports to the FONE Research Committee every six months for the duration of the project. Grant recipients are encouraged to attend the FONE Fall meeting to accept the award in person and provide a brief overview of the proposed study.

The purpose of the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (FONE) Scholarship Program is to assist FONE members in good standing to obtain advanced education, which will enhance their skills and expertise in executive nursing practice. FONE is now accepting applications for the 2009 Scholarship Program

To be eligible for a FONE Educational Scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Current membership in FONE
• Active RN license in the state of Florida
• Currently enrolled or have proof of enrollment in one of the following programs: BSN, MSN/MBA, MBA, MPH, MHA, MSN, ARNP, Doctorate in Nursing, or Ph.D.
