Best Practices

AONE is requesting members to submit best practices. Best practices may be included in AONE’s “Future Patient Care Delivery Tool Kit”.

Parrish Medical Center shared some of their successes:

  • This is their 4th year without a VAP.
  • The Critical Care Medical Director developed a computer system that highlights when a patient's vital signs, labs, radiology tests are outside established parameters. The patient is flagged and discussed every 4 hours at patient rounds to determine if a critical care team should be contacted to evaluate the patient and determine if the patient needs to be transferred to the ICU. Their Code Blues have decreased by 33%. They have been featured on CNN.

They are the first in the nation to use a robot for telemedicine within the hospital. The robot is used to allow physicians outside of the hospital to evaluate potential stroke patients.

Meeting Adjourned

Next Meeting will be scheduled during the FONE Conference as discussed during this meeting.
