Welcome to TBONE

Tampa Bay Organization of Nurse Executives (TBONE) is a not-for-profit organization and affiliate member of the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (FONE). Local nurse executives and leaders from hospitals, colleges, and any setting where health care is provided meet to exchange ideas, share solutions, and partner to improve patient outcomes. All fund raising activities support a generous scholarship program that eases financial burden for students in every academic level. TBONE serves the counties of Hillsborough, Pasco, & Pinellas

 

TBONE Vision and Mission

Our Vision:

To foster a strong, cohesive network of aspiring and Nursing Leaders from provider settings and educational institutions within the Tampa Bay area.

Our Mission:

To advance the knowledge and skills of our nurse leaders by providing a forum for networking and the exchange of best practices, and to support our future nurse leaders of the Tampa Bay area.

To accomplish this vision, TBONE will:

  • Provide scholarship and research opportunities for aspiring nurse leaders. Partner with nursing colleges and universities to enhance the learning opportunities of student nurses in our region.
  • Provide legislative information to membership and explore opportunities to gather legislative concerns from membership to relay to FONE.
  • Provide educational programs to support leadership development of professional nurses.
  • Develop and maintain collaborations with agencies and professional organizations that advance the agenda of nursing leadership.Pursue and sustain excellence in stewardship for all funds and resources.
  • Align and facilitate TBONE leaders in a supportive role with FONE initiatives.

At the Spring Annual Meeting, AACN honored the following individuals:

  • Dr. Donna Shalala, president of the University of Miami and chair of the Institute of Medicine's Committee on the Future of Nursing, who received the Nursing Spectrum/Gannett Foundation Lectureship Award.
  • Dr. Jean Wortock, nursing dean from St. Petersburg College in Florida, who received the 2011 AACN Advocate of the Year Award.

Vicki Marsee, RN, MBA, NEA-BC, Director of Nursing Systems at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute  in Tampa, Florida, has been selected Nurse Leader of the Year for 2009 by the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (FONE).  The Leadership Award was presented at the FONE Conference in Gainesville in May, 2009.  To be considered for the award, the nominee must demonstrate creativity in nursing management; promote the profession of nursing; demonstrate leadership through sharing knowledge and expertise within and outside the organization; develop positive intra-institutional relationships with other disciplines and participate in a broad range of community and/or healthcare organizations.

 

Congratulations to Sue Hartranft, PhD, ARNP, CNL, of Morton Plant Mease Health Care, who received her Philosophy of Doctor Degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida in May 2009.

Heartfelt congratulations to Sandra Janzen, Chief Nurse Executive of the James A. Haley Veteran’s Administration Hospital, for her recent induction into the Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).

Congratulations also to Tim Eixenberger, Chief Nursing Officer of Bayfront Medical Center, on his recent successful defense for completion of his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree!

 

 

Emergent Nurse Leader Program

The University of South Florida College of Nursing announces The Emergent Nurse Leader Program, a program designed to prepare aspiring individuals for leadership roles in academic and practice settings. This program is offered in collaboration with the Center for the Health Professions, University of California, San Francisco and the SREB Council on Collegiate Education for Nursing, Atlanta Georgia.  See brochure for more information and application.
