Cejka Search has been retained by a profitable and growing, full-service acute-care hospital in South Florida with more than 400-beds to assist in the recruitment of an Executive Director, Surgical Services Service Line.

This individual will report to the Chief Nursing Officer and will manage a staff of approximately 120 individuals functioning in the surgical services’ operation and a budget of over $40M. The direct reports include all phases of the operating room(s). Primary service lines include oncology, heart and vascular, orthopedics and general surgery.

This executive level position will provide the tactical and strategic clinical and administrative leadership for the surgical services service line. He/she will be accountable for the quality outcomes and standards of patient care, performance improvement, process management, business operations, resource utilization, and management development. In addition, this individual will lead and manage materials management, budgeting, strategic planning and business prioritization related to surgical services. Through these efforts and collaborating with the medical staff, this leader will be expected to continue to positively impact the objectives and drive overall quality results.

The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of hospital organizations and the related functions of administration and patient care operations, as well as outstanding knowledge of surgical services and delivery of nursing care. The ideal career progression of the successful candidate will incorporate the following credentials:

Depth of experience gained in complex hospital environments that have ideally included achieving Magnet status, progressive nursing career path with increasing responsibility in nurse management positions culminating in a Director, Surgical Services position for a hospital with a minimum of 300-beds, thorough understanding and appreciation for the value of a “shared governance” model of operations for the Nursing staff, ideally with additional exposure to The Studer Group’s approach and program of service excellence, demonstrated business savvy as it relates to nursing and excellent management skills associated with budgeting, scheduling and planning and control. Ideally, have experience with cardiovascular and orthopedic service.
