Director ER, Trauma and Intensive Care Services


The scope of responsibility for this position includes Emergency Services, Trauma Services, Neuro ICU, Trauma ICU and Medical Surgical Trauma units. Supervises department managers, educators, and administrator on duty. Takes an active role in formulating policy, develops and/or reviews procedures essential to the achievement of objectives and the ability to make recommendations to Senior Management for areas of responsibility to include Human Resources, Financial Responsibility, Planning and Strategic program development. Assures quality outcomes and excellence in all aspects of Service, Outcome and Cost as related to achieving the mission, vision and goals. Use planning, research, foresight to analyze and make decisions with out delay while involving appropriate parties. Role models Situational Leadership. Develops, directs and insures the implementation of department services that promote optimum health care delivery and customer service. Promotes and continually educates on concept of excellent service for all customers of the hospital, to include patients, visitors, physicians and team members. Accountable for creating a system which fosters participation and collaboration in planning, implementing and evaluating standards to insure safe, efficient and therapeutically effective health care. Maintains team member satisfaction score at goal of division/corporate level. Seeks and implements best practices to enhance organizational success. Demonstrates partnering with physicians to lead Patient Care Services to achieve the effective delivery of the highest quality healthcare. Create a positive and innovative atmosphere which encourages the team to go beyond normal duty to achieve key objectives exploring new ideas and solutions. Builds and help to maintain positive relationships and a culture of trust both within and outside the areas of responsibility. Focuses on results, and if these are threatened be prepared to address any problems or conflicts which get in the way. Is visible to the team and demonstrates an active approach, being willing to get involved in order to increase the pace and achieve goals and objectives. Able to express views and provide thoughts and ideas to overcome identified problems in a way that allows others to positively input and achieves success. Actively influences and persuades a variety of people in changing situations. Enjoys challenging situations and have the flexibility to work in an unstructured environment where there is freedom to act and the authority to make decisions. Achieves results through people by building and continually developing positive leaders. Understands market share and building, maintaining and/or growing market share. Uses organizational resources effectively. Reports to the Vice President of Patient Care Services.

Qualifications Must have MSN, MBA, MHA, masters in a related field or 10+ yrs leadership experience in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care and/or Trauma services with Bachelor’s degree or 25 years hospital leadership experience in Emergency Services/Trauma/Critical Care and current Florida RN license. Nursing Administration certification is preferred. 5-7 yrs Nursing Leadership experience s required, as well as 3 years clinical experience in Emergency Department/Critical Care and Trauma Services. Prefer 7-10 years of recent management with multiple departments in Emergency/Critical Care/Trauma Services. Must have excellent Interpersonal skills, Organizational skills, Communication skills, and Leadership skills. Must be able to establish and manage department and/or program budgets and be able to learn quickly and effectively using new and changing technology. Must have good Computer skills and excellent Customer Service skills.
