The Florida Organization of Nurse Executives and the Central Florida Organization of Nurse Executives are once again pleased to offer the Educational Conference and Tradeshow in Orlando, Florida on June 17 & 18, 2010.

This conference is designed for Executives and Administrators with responsibility for nurse staffing and management, including: Chief Nursing Officers, Nurse Executives, Nurse Managers, Nurse Leaders, Aspiring Nurse Leaders and Nursing Students.

  • The Poster Presentation session informs FONE membership and all conference attendees of innovative evidence based endeavors by FONE nurse leaders and their staff to address current nursing practices.  This session highlights leadership and staff evidenced based activities.

AT THE COMPLETION OF THIS EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE,

PARTICIPANTS will be able to:

  • Understand the evolution of FONE over a period of four decades.
  • Differentiate Transformational Leadership from other leadership styles.
  • Discuss Transformational Leadership behaviors
  • Examine the evidence on Transformational Leadership in the healthcare environment.
  • Discuss the Domain of Transformational Leadership in the 2008 Magnet Recognition Program®.
  • Outline strategies to implement Transformational Leadership in the hospital work environment.
  • Describe a leadership role that keeps the experience nurse at the bedside.
  • Describe how this role can be used to improve throughput in specific patient populations.
  • Describe clinical outcomes that are impacted by the CRN role.
  • Verbalize understanding of the need to design “alternative” care models for the aging nurse workforce
  • Discuss the strategies in developing an Admission Nurse Program
  • Describe the impact of having an Admission Nurse Program on nurse satisfaction, patient satisfaction and compliance with regulatory guidelines
  • Discuss the Shands Healthcare Nursing Leadership Fellowship as one strategy for expanding leadership succession.
  • Describe the leadership development curriculum and components and the effect on leadership at the Department of Nursing and unit level.
  • Examine the long term outcomes of the Shands Healthcare Nursing Leadership Fellowship on leadership promotions, clinical governance, and unit leadership.
  • Identify the PRP serves as an alternative to the traditional clinical ladder program
  • Discuss the benefits of the PRP implementation and its rewards to bedside nurses.
  • Define the "why to " publish.
  • Describe types of publishing.
  • Describe the " how to " write and publish.
  • Identify & discuss 2010 nursing related legislative bills and their implications.
  • Participants will value the FCN as a source of data and information on the nurse workforce in Florida.
  • Participants will learn the results of research and data analysis, as well as the FCN’s projects related to nurse education and retention issues.
  • Participants will understand the FCN’s recommended actions to resolve the nursing shortage and their role in the implementation and accomplishment of said actions.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Registration fees will be refunded in the amount of 50% if notification is received in writing five (5) business days prior to the first day of the conference (by June 10, 2010).  Registration is transferable from one member/attendee to another if coordinated with the FONE Executive Office prior to the program.
